The leak also distracted from the latest release of Pfizer documents.

The other question is do center/independent voters still view the democrats as the party of bodily autonomy with any kind of seriousness? I’m going to wager there are many who a) don’t and b) see right through this. It’s a hail mary pass.

This is nothing more then another distraction, for the sheeple. We have possibilities of famine, energy shortages, WW3, and these fools want us focused on this old BS topic!

F*ck them ALL!

I am a strong proponent of limited government but a legitimate government role is to defend human life. Human life begins at conception, therefore laws protecting all human life are justified.

It seems a particular principle of progressive politics that more is always better...more government, more regulation, more taxes, more...more...more.

Yet in every field of human endeavor there are limits to what benefits can be gained from anything. In pharmacology we have therapeutic windows for most medications--more than that does no good and can do great harm. In economics we invariably encounter diseconomies of scale--larger eventually becomes inefficient and counterproductive.

It comes as no small irony that the Democrats have smashed into the limits of their reliance on the Supreme Court to get their way in politics. At several times since Roe v Wade the Democrats have had sufficient votes in Congress to craft at least a legislative right to abortion, yet have chosen instead to bury the debate on abortion in a plethora of Supreme Court cases. They have had ample time to prevent this moment.

Now they encounter a Supreme Court unwilling to play along with judicial activism any longer. Roe v Wade was a flawed decision because it was from the start crafted as a political compromise. It attempted to end the abortion debate by giving both sides a piece of what they wanted. It attempted, and it failed.

The solution for the Democrats is predictable: more rage. Yet already we are seeing the limits of the potency of this rage. Can any person, liberal or otherwise, seriously argue the riots in Los Angeles over the potential overturning of Roe v Wade are the reasoned and proportionate response? How many otherwise Democrat leaning voters will this alienate?

Leaking the draft opinion is just the thing to energize the Democratic base. It will also shrink that same base.

Great analysis. But I think the base is center or modestly right-leaning, not left. Trump personality, as opposed to policy, was off-putting to many, but policy chickens coming home to roost over past 2 years have re-focused minds. Reversion to the historical mean.

Naming Nina Jankowicz the head of DHS disinformation dept was their real silver bullet. The Roe vs Wade is a distraction, it will be a summer of protest (or another excuse not to get a job).

Nina will potentially have the power to control all the media and what is wrote / posted. We have not seen someone with this kind of potential power in 100 years - when Hitler took over Germany.

This will have a much bigger impact on the election that Roe vs Wade. In the next 6 months - even the libs will realize that their ability to get an abortion will still exist.

Might the leak have been from the right instead of the left? Perhaps the right know full well how ballistic, and maybe (likely, hopefully?) violent, would be the left's response. Would it not be better to give them more time and opportunity to steam, plan and act violently? Given the country/world is a shit show of totalitarianism, inflation, energy shortage, food shortage etc. perhaps abortion is not as important as survival to the average Joe/Jane. Would violence across the country over abortion be net positive for the Dem's in November? Or, might the common folk realize the left is even more crackers than they already thought? No, I guess not. The right is too stupid.

When it comes to elections, “It’s the economy, stupid” will still hold. It will not be different this time.

Follow the Money. Who benefits? Obviously the Democratic Party but folks forget Planned Parenthood. It is amazing how much power a private "non-profit" company has over our political process. Think about it...the government subsidizes Planned Parenthood which in turn generates political donations to continue those subsidies. Poltical corruption at its finest. So if Roe vs. Wade is repealed, Planned Parenthood stands to lose a LOT of money. I would not be surprised if they planned this -- after all 'planned' is in their name.

The major bombshell just before the elections will be the Durham Report, on how Hillary and the Democrat Party spread Russian disinformation and subverted democracy.

The hysteria about abortion will by then long be relegated to the backpages of mainstream media.

Roe v Wade is only the 1st salvo that's going to come from the radical right. Any Supreme Court ruling based on the 14th Amendments right to privacy clause is now up for being put into play .... gay marriage, desegregation, etc, etc. Only white, property owning, Christian males are the originalist's chosen few and that is who the radical right intends to install as the leaders of this country. Iran based on Christianity rather than Islam is what the end game of the radical right's intent for America is. How' that going to benefit the financial world?

I seriously doubt that Roe v Wade trumps inflation and the economy, even with the liberals. I think everyone is already set on how they will vote, some may swing right as the economy worsens. Maybe the SCOTUS will vote on this before the election, no election result can change the ruling anyway, and most probably understand this as they are not voting on judges. All they can hope for is that this will piss off Dems so they WILL go vote, but the angry Reps are way more motivated, as shown in the early primary turn out numbers.

The left keeps ratcheting up their signature mood of indignation, presuming it will generate sufficient vapor to distract from the chasm of inaction. As remedy, a small and fierce beam of acuity as you have cast will multiply like stars.

All of this ignores the fact that people have had time to analyze the effects of abortion on society, family and friends. and it ain't all it was cracked up to be as a solution, to a preventable problem. It is looking more and more like a desperate solution for getting rid of unwanted people that are seen as a problem to irresponsible individuals.
