"US taxpayers generally care about others, but many are struggling, as are the victims of the callousness of the last few years of global health malpractice."
Thank you for sharing this. We need more content like this, that challenges one-sided thinking. It’s possible to largely despise a politician or political entity while recognizing the good things they do or the truths they speak. Similarly, we need to hold accountable the politicians we support when they do something wrong. If we are ever to restore the greatness of the US, we need to recapture this ethos, and return to independent thinking and socratic processes.
Let's fix our country first. The fish(USAID) rots from the head down. Everything about it smells like shit. It can't be revived until it's entirely decomposed. And it's just a microcosm of the entire Leviathian . 'We The People' have only been exposed only to the government's stated nominal benefactors . The real benefactors are those sitting on boards of NGOs ( unelected bureaucrats, deep state "cool kids" like those in the Council on Foreign Relations ,globalist billionaires, and of course our elected or selected politicians. I'm all for helping those who have less, but we have to take of ourselves before we help the rest of the world. And right now this country is just starting through the five stages of grieving and I'm at retribution which isn't even on that list.
Direct food and HIV aid has not been stopped, hence the 300 employees still working who will be moved to report under a different department. Those aid packages will have to be reviewed for fraud of course but they are still operating.
Yeah, the author seems to skip over those facts in order to score moral virtue-signaling points about USAID. Must be making some money off them. The "good" stuff is still happening, likely with fraud still intact. Thanks to Musk's team, we already know with certainty that the "legitimate" aid it provides is riddled with fraud, and thanks to people like Benz, we also know much of it comes with other strings attached (no nets for you without a trans dance party!).
I don't think he's making money off of them. The Dems have done a good job putting little starving children on screens talking about millions dying. Since it is an aid organization (or at least posed as one) it's understandable he just wouldn't know the Trump admin had addressed this.
And YES, a LOT of that aid is NOT making it to those little starving children. Unconscionable.
Just to clarify, I wasn't referring to QTR. This is a Brownstone Institute piece. No clue if they get any grants or funding from USAID and I was (mostly) joking about that possibility.
Still, if someone is writing an article about USAID, they should know that even the real aid does not come without strings attached. Seemed very odd to me to suggest there are these purely altruistic efforts coming from a CIA-connected agency that operates in secrecy...I mean, "independent" of elected officials.
The truth is that USAID is, and always has been, the international propaganda and subversion branch of the CIA. Any actual humanitarian AID is accidental at best, and used to disguise the more nefarious operations of the agency. The AID portion of the agency name does stand for aid. It is an abbreviation of "Agency for International Development", a vey broad palette, but not an aid agency. Inquires into this agency, prior to DOGE have always been stonewalled, with the help of the CIA and DOD, to suppress public knowledge of their interference and manipulation of global affairs with dubious motives and goals, almost non of which historically, have benefitted this country of the taxpayers. It has always been convenient to the intelligence agencies that "AID" has been assumed by the unknowing public to stand for good and humanitarian motives and goals. Thank God that Trump facilitated the breaking down of these doors. Something that the legislature was feckless in accomplishing since its creation. Anything actually "good" provided for under USAID came be, and is, being assumed under the more transparent State Department. The audit will undoubtedly expose these remaining programs as a small minority of the spending and associated overhead.
"USAID does a lot of good. Abruptly stopping all disbursement of funds will kill people, particularly children. Because of the nature of diseases, supply lines, and the state of health systems in low-income countries, a sudden interruption to HIV testing and distribution of antiretroviral therapies through PEPFAR, significantly managed by USAID, will result in increased transmission and death from HIV/AIDS."
I have to push back on this. If these programs are so important, why don't the local governments fund them? Why is it that only the USA or USAID is the only one to fund these programs? It far past time for the US to look after its own and let the rest of the world fend for themselves.
Shut it down, and keep it CLOSED !! Enough already, I swear we need some Pat Buchanan protectionism immediately. There are nice children and adults everywhere in the world that need help - I get it, I have been to over a dozen countries - but you know who else needs help?!? AMERICANS. There are no eggs in my f'ing grocery store, and when available they're 11 bucks for an 18 pack. We have destroyed the future of this nation, I pray for our children's sake it is not too far gone to be remedied.
I have been to this point for a number of years now. Our 2 party system has created so much division in this country. It doesn’t matter how great of an idea one side has - the other will be automatically against it. 90% is on one side in my opinion.
But we have had 250 years as a union - which our country is probably the most diverse in the world. At what point do we say let’s stop the fighting and break up in to 2 separate counties? Then the fighting can stop and we all can move forward in the direction we feel is best?
Probably easier to just start ignoring the people who keep telling us there are two sides and every issue fits neatly into one or the other. If we were to break into two countries, those same people stoking that artificial division would just have those two new countries warring with each other in 6 months' time.
What a phenomenal piece! I subscribe here mainly for talk about the markets, and occasional humor. But this is a well thought out, well written article that years ago would have been an OpEd piece in any mainstream publication, before those outlets became ideologically captured.
Where in the enumerated powers of the Constitution (article 1 section 8) does it authorize the federal government to confiscate taxpayer money for acts of philanthropy?
Ok I get it and am pissed off by, let’s say half of what USAID spends. That’s .6% of the federal budget. The Pentagon pisses that away in what, two hours? Come on man. Our carriers can’t launch planes, we have no industrial base for defense, and you’re crying about a rounding error in the budget? Screw that. Congress has abandoned its job.
This author fails to disclose is fact that the directive from the President was to stop all funding for non-humanitarian efforts and roll the humanitarian ones under the State Department’s control. Using the argument that this will kill children, “how many children will have to die” is an obfuscation of reality and an emotional influencing tool of the propagandists of the Deep State. It is well known globally that USAID, and its sister NED, are front organizations for covert activities of the CIA to disrupt other governments and install or maintain US control over other societies. This is as antithetical to real American values as it comes. All wrapped in helping others around the world. Actually sick and immoral. USAID is corrupt to its core, hence it is not repairable. The decision to eradicate it and use the State Department to,truly help people globally is the right thing to do, for America, and the globe.
My understanding is that medical and food related programs through USAID continue via the State dept while other expenditures were supposed to be halted. But the courts stopped that, so it’s business as usual for now. USAID sounds like an aid society vs Agency for International Development sounds like something else entirely.
Only radical actions will be sufficient to begin recovering from the malevolent, destructive, policies of the Democrats since 2008 (and in many ways for much longer). There may be some temporary "casualties" along the way as the "sorting-out" process proceeds. In reality we are in a "counter-revolutionary" situation and firmness of purpose and action will be necessary for some time to come.
Certainly it needs a good overhaul to save money. But will you point that same laser at Trump when he enacts tax cuts for the mainly wealthy entities in this country? Billions of dollars for those who need it least? Tax cuts are deficit spending and looking at the national debt we see a pretty good correlation between decreasing revenues from 2000 on and tax cuts/irresponsible revenue collection.

imho, this is the best writing to date from you. thanks

What government departments require eggs to be available at any price?

We do need more political parties. It's in our history.
A third party president ran this country during a very stressful time.
Who is “we.?” Leave. We ain’t breaking up.

Bravo. This should be an editorial in all medias...
