On behalf of Americans everywhere, i would like to paraphrase a quote: as much as you hate the MSM, it is not enough. They have taught me there is always room to hate them some more.
The Audacity of Hype campaign failed. The main stream media and Dems sold their souls and didn't get the return they expected. Sad for them, lots of good, but delusional people. Thanks for the coverage.
Except for the one minor part which you did mention at the end, yet which you omitted from your subhead, and which was absent from both the Harris and Trump platforms: fiscal responsibility. It's always the same story - we're going to cut taxes, and make it up from the resultant green shoots growth combined with cuts in wasteful spending. The stock market is rallying. But the bond market knows it's a fairy tale. The U.S. is caught in a debt trap, and there is no way out that does not entail pain for most of the people.
"In a much-anticipated interview with Joe Rogan, Trump said the country should return to the late 19th century when we had no income tax at all and funded the federal government with tariffs."
If Trump said, "We should all be able to transport ourselves like the do on Star Trek," we could have fun debating which of those two statements are the dumbest. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me to see Elon go on Rogan's podcast and tell everyone he'll have a working transporter built by 2032.
Are you really that clueless? The writer of that article is an idiot. The equivalent, of what Trump said about the 19th century and tariffs vs income tax, would be taking a bucket of oats and pouring it into the gas tank of your F150 after you brush it down.
I would love to see them cut $2 trillion from the federal budget. The hell and pain it would bring would tickle the shit out of me. I would love to see and hear Joe Rogan's spoiled ass after $2 trillion was cut. Hell, I'd love to be your personal pen pal, along with picture text if they cut $2 trillion from the budget.
I cannot believe the level of ignorance out there........but then I look at Donald Trump as POTUS and realize exactly how something like him, Biden, Kamala and Hillary as candidates, and Obama could actually make it that far in a national, political race.
Any day, time, or place anyone.....including Chris.......wants to debate the reality of what it would be like to cut the income tax and start charging tariffs, I'm your huckleberry.
Very true. Today is a day for breathing a sigh of relief. The voters soundly repudiated the progressives' hijacking of the Democrat party. While it's not the landslide of Nixon in 72 or Reagan in 84, it's a message to the Schiffs, Schumers and Scarboroughs. Not to get too baseball, but their last batter was called out just looking at the last strike. But you've got a good point. Now the Trump admin's job is to roll out the highway spikes and make taxpayers feel as though they still have a stake in the nation...beyond that of being an ATM that has to watch what it says and thinks.
If it's a "feeling" you are look for, I think that has already been accomplished........every time Trump makes some stupid statement.....that's never gonna happen.......the hopium crowd that voted for him starts a discussion similar to Gilligan and the Skipper discussing the steak dinner they are going to have if they ever get back.......with feelings and looks of euphoria.
I recommend staying away from the reality as long as you can. Trump will supply and endless flow of bullshit statements that will press your feeling button.
There have been so many episodes like this throughout American history. Not only is this not new, it's not even unusual.
History gets sanitized. We see it as black & white photos or paragraphs in a school history book.
We don't see it for what it was, how it was lived, the pain, the passion, the broken lives, the ebullient successes. We can't. It's the prison of the living inside the universe of eternity.
We can only know by imagining through our human lens how we are now and how it must have been for those (like us) when they were alive. Writers, poets, painters, dramatists -- they do this.
But let's not exaggerate! History is what it is, and we're living our allotted time. That's all.
I don't mean to be critical. Just my two cents as a subscriber.
I intentionally watched msnbc to see the hangovers and depression. They still insist on painting Trump and his deplorables as soooo wrong. For the first time ever I will tune into the view this morning in hopes of seeing Whoopi barf all over herself and Farrah shit her panties. It is indeed a day of celebration !
Kamala hasn't been seen or heard from since sunset yesterday. Suspicions that she has been taken behind the WH and shot after begging Biden on her knees to spare her.
I heard last night, I think it was Charles CW Cooke but could be mistaken, that the Dems will need to lose 3 elections before they start to turn introspective and I think that’s correct. I expect there will be a lot of blaming the voters rather than recognizing their own policies are the issue.
I mostly agree, and certainly with the hope expressed in the article's title. I disagree with the idea that Harris/Dems might have won if they chose Shapiro, etc. The only way they could have won is if the MSM repudiated itself over the course of the last four years, and if the Dems took Biden out two years ago, when it was clear he was beyond help. Of course neither institution, or any of these institutions could do that, given the history of self preservation and disdain for the citizens they've shown, really since the assassination of JFK. The risk now is that Trump won't live up to the moment he created, and/or the wave of citizen anger and disgust he rode into shore. Sure, he's got to be the President for all citizens, but before he starts shaking hands, he needs to keep both of his on the chainsaw. He needs to turn Musk, RFK and hundreds of others loose to really hurt these entities. We need to hear insiders scream and cry as they are shown the door. If we don't hear indignation and recrimination from the entrenched as they are unceremoniuosly defenestrated, Trump won't be doing what the electorate just told him to do. The minute people start saying he's going too far is when he needs to really get after it; if he does that, the title and tenor of your article will be more than momentary wishful thinking. I hope he does, and I hope you're right.
Raven: Well said...the biggest disappointment in this entire process was..there was NO Process! The democrats were permitted to "input" a candidate for a sitting president without repercussions...This win by the Republicans along with the Senate should provide retribution for the abouse of power that we have seen over the past 4 years...beginning with the January 6 prisoners who should be set free NOW and not when Trump takes office...then the laundry list of Immigration Laws that have been broken can be repaired right away...Biden should just reveres all of the Trump executive orders that he rescinded when he took office...THERE SHOULD BE NO WAITING FOR ALLOWING MORE ILLEGALS INTO THE COUNTRY...Then we need to go on the offensive against the NGO's (bullshit billionaire corporations) and correct the Mexico-China intentional destruction of the country...Every illegal had to traverse Mexico to get to our southern border...This should be a priority NOW...Then start discussions with China NOW...about the illegal trade and illegal Fentanyl...You can start with Jeff Bezos and Amazon since 90% of all Amazon products come from China...Then we can turn towards the Soros based DA's at the state level and put fighting crime back on the from burner...This is not about implementing new Laws...It is about enforcing the Laws that are currently in place...We used to be a country of Law and order...
I’m finally feeling that joy Kamala was talking about.
On behalf of Americans everywhere, i would like to paraphrase a quote: as much as you hate the MSM, it is not enough. They have taught me there is always room to hate them some more.
F*CK THE MSM!
And their Transnational masters.
The electorate wasn't acquiescing.
It was seething.
I really liked your “X” comments last night/this morning. Spot on.
The Audacity of Hype campaign failed. The main stream media and Dems sold their souls and didn't get the return they expected. Sad for them, lots of good, but delusional people. Thanks for the coverage.
Excellent essay QTR! Nothing to add except glad I subscribe.

I'm personally looking forward to Elon's 2T of budget cut recommendations.
For a positive take, have a look at Prof St. Onge's recent post https://www.profstonge.com/p/trump-want-to-abolish-the-income ... and he's not typically known as an optimist on the debt.

One hell of a sugar rush on stock markets….and one helluva kick to the scrotum for gold mining investors. Surely it’s overdone.
Great analysis Chris. Let’s work to restore America.

Sunny Hostin is pissing herself. So angry!!!
I'm elated
Kamala hasn't been seen or heard from since sunset yesterday. Suspicions that she has been taken behind the WH and shot after begging Biden on her knees to spare her.
Did Kamala make a concession speech at all?
... and thank you for giving us prose worth reading!
Awesome, awesome writing! Good shit right here!!!

But overall I agree, MSM is in a heap of trouble
Let’s do it!

It should not go unnoticed that the last presidential candidate to skip the Al Smith dinner was Walter Mondale.
