Yet another instance where the deliberate gutting of our manufacturing sector to reduce the power of the middle class (read the 1992 Rio Accordes) has come back to bite us. An engineer at an airplane engine repair facility will not fly because pins and bolts sheet during engine testing and shortcuts are taken to cut engine repair costs. The sheering issue began when the manufacturing of metal hardware was outsourced to Mexico, where they use inferior metal to make cheaper nuts, bolts, etc. anyone who has used a hammer or inserted a screw in the last 20 years has experienced the problem with shredding or bending screws and nails.

Boeing is analogous with the US - literally falling apart at the seams.
