I won't eat bugs either, unless you count that worm in the tequilla back in 1979.

Not a bug! Thus, doesn’t count.

The only way to fight this evil is FACE IT and to STOP supporting the unelected globalists and the corrupt in congress. The power is in our hands. STOP CLEANING THEIR HOMES, TAKING CARE OF THEIR CHILDREN, FIXING THEIR CARS, PROVIDING SECURITY, COOKING FOR THEM, FIXING ANYTHING THAT BREAKS...AND WHEN THEY GATHER TOGETHER AT WORLD CONFERENCES MAKE SURE THE A/C BREAKS, THE TECH DOESN'T WORK, THERE ARE PLUMBING PROBLEMS BUGS ARE THE ONLY THING SERVED AS THEY ARE LOCKED DOWN UNTIL WE SAY THEY CAN GO. THEY DEPEND ON THE 'USELESS EATERS' FOR LIFE SUPPORT...END IT AND SEE HOW FAST THEY FALL. THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THEM ARE AIDING AND ABETTING CRIMINALS AND MUST BE 'TAKEN ASIDE' TO EDUCATE ON HOW THEIR LUST FOR THE BIG BUCKS BY WORKING FOR THEM IS DESTROYING THEIR FUTURE AND THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY. WE have done enough hand wringing, it's time to ACT.

You nailed it again. Thank you very much. The central banks, headed by The Fed are our greatest enemy. I am convinced.

They are getting quite clever with shrinkflation these days. The “premium” taco season at Costco that replaced the plain old boring taco seasoning (no longer available) lists corn meal as the first ingredient….. wish I would have noticed that before I bought it. The old one used 100% spices. Another thing I’ll have to make myself now I guess, is my own spice blends.

If they start pushing bugs really hard, I’ll remember to put them through a magic chicken filter. You put bugs in and you eggs out the other side.

It’s hard to find good food. We used to order chicken from a local rancher until he died suddenly last fall. Turns out he was the supplier for all the local meat co-ops. His widow shut down the company within 90 days. The replacement suppliers all apparently feed their chicken gold. Based on the prices, that’s what I had to assume.

Reading QTR is literally the only thing saving me from shoving a fork into my head and singing "Hail, Hail, The Gang's All Here!" (1).

Who are these people? How have they gained so much power?? There are hills we truly may have to die on.

Expand full comment

Yea, not eating bugs.

One underappreciated way shrinkflation happens is in quality choices of components. It could be choosing a resistor whose resistance is accurate to +-5% instead of the +-3% specified in the design to save 1/10,000 of a cent per unit that accrues a million to a company's bottom line. Think about something as simple as a TV remote from the 1990s versus now. Hit a button on an old remote and something happened to the TV. Granted, complexity was lower. Hit a button on a Roku or Chromecast remote: 50/50 chance of something happening to the TV. When it does, it's 5 seconds later.

Quality will slowly and insidiously degrade and we'll all get used to it because there will be no one who steps up to sell a better product. If they try, their lunch will get eaten by their competitors. Just wait until this starts happening to EVs en masse. The epic battery fires will become commonplace.

Even though I will die with you on the hill of not eating bugs, I look forward to the photos of COP40 where they are eating grasshopper canapés and mugging for the camera in their battlestar galactica outfits. It's gonna be adorable.
