A centralized economy would be rigged to benefit a few and keep the rest in check.

My friend is in Cuba right now, while the common folks are living meal to meal, word on the street is the ruling family has quite a lavish lifestyle: " All pigs are equal but some pigs are more equal than others".

So true. Rtko, SM, BH . . . All so true.

Why does it all have to be made so complicated?

It isn’t complicated.

You just have to understand what it is . . . And then it’s easy.

I've lived a somewhat unconventional life. No, I didn't get my private parts rearranged, but I did earn a fairly unconventional living. No AI, and no central planner could have made allowances for the ways I earned a living.

And I'm not that unusual. There's the old saying, mediocracy thrives on standardization.

Adult films?

(Just kdding hahahahah . . . . Actually that might be the big AI use case. If they can get video to persist across scenes. Even the Cro Magnons had the Venus of Willendorf.)

You cannot program Human Nature, nor can you program Mother Nature, and both affect a local economy in different ways every day.

Mises is correct. And even if we get a super intelligent AI, corruption will not disappear because its conclusions will be implemented by humans in power.

Well "AI" is definitely Artificial and definitely not "intelligent". If you need any proof just take a look at a few of the "AI"-generated stories on Faceplant.

Guaranteed to provoke a horrendous civil war. Human nature does not comply, never has.

Great article. But there is so much more. We are dreamers. What data would the planners to use to invent airplanes and telephone and TV and space travel and artificial hips and cellular communications? Central planners for reasons covered couldn’t even optimize a relatively short duration period of existing preferences let alone the ever changing dynamic that invents the once unimaginable. And anyone who has spent even a short amount of time working in government or education knows the bureaucrats would snuff out even the slightest light of the unfamiliar.

AI for central planning is ridiculous but with the recent spate of presidential candidates made an AI chief executive would be better🤣
