If we survive this stupid era, it will be the standup comics especially Joe Rogan who save us, because they can still say true things if it is couched in humor. Rogan's pod (and Substack) are like the monasteries in the dark ages keeping a little flicker alight.

Beautiful metaphor. Also, the monasteries were the new book factories of the time.

I am a big fan of Brian Selter. I am so grateful that he exists.

Sometimes I feel bad about myself. I'm not as fit as other guys. I'm not as strong as I want to be. But I looked it up and Brian Stelter is somehow younger than I am and then I feel better. I could be worse. I could be him.

You had me in the beginning 🤣

Yes - he is only in his early 30s I think... And married to a traffic reporter...

Somebody married that?

She’s blind and eats her boogers, so there’s that.

Early thirties so the wife still has plenty of time to come out as trans or lesbian after breeding is complete.

Rogan rocks. Because he asks open-minded questions, does not pander to either political party or cause, thinks for himself and encourages listeners to do the same. Plus he has fun doing it.

CNN (brought to you by Pfizer!) so deserves to plunge into oblivion. They may change their approach but once a brand is gone it's gone. I will never go back.

Sadly, I find more REAL journalism in substack, websites than I do MSM et al.

While I can share a bit of the schadenfreude in CNN's disgrace and downfall, don't write the obituary of the legacy/corporate/mainstream media too quickly. It's still backed by some of the deepest pockets there are. Just as a band of hunter-gatherers will abandon a straggler, or a mob boss will whack a capo who's outlived his usefulness, the MSM has plenty of resources and useful stooges left at its disposal and once the Covid narrative fades from significance -- as it already has -- there will be another one waiting to be unleashed upon the populace. The gaslighting will continue until enough people reject the MSM en masse. Joe Rogan is massively popular, yes, but he's just one guy.

They may never crash, but they’ve opened themselves to ridicule. If I choose to be a dick, I can any political argument is mere seconds now by laughing hysterically at someone and saying, “Where’d you get THAT info, CNN?”

The brand is tainted. There’s very few brands who come back from that.

There is already another corporate/government narrative. This one if fueled by the MIC/DOD and it was immediately after COVID... Ukraine. Then, Russia and China and maybe WW3. For anyone not in the know, the USA is not a democracy and hasn't been by the people for the people in decades...

Point on deep pockets very much taken, but the "MSM" has a classic and largely insoluble branding problem. As in, a "how do Harley Davidson and Kleenex keep selling" problem as their demographic is hitting the nursing home. Corvette went mid-engine to target "younger customers" of 59 years old. Nice try. Podcasts are the content kings and YouTube et al provide them with shorter-form platform reach into young and middle age demos. No, Joe Rogan is not just One Guy, he's the icon of a fundamental technology change in news formulation, delivery, and consumption. Yet the business is still about earholes and eyeballs and the MSM has already lost the important ones while they survive on getting 75% of their ad revenues from clot shots and hunchback drugs. Joe Rogan hucks a $20 green pill he actually takes. Like our host said, if deep pockets want to stay deep they send capital to the growing audience. Political vanities are defensive investments and don't provide the same returns. Gotta admit, though, those new Corvettes are really good.

Quite right. Now they are gaslighting us on Ukraine and Taiwan, stirring up trouble in Albania, Kosovo, and elsewhere. Nancy Pelosi is the new John McCain.

You forgot Armenian, the Stans and now Iran (more color revolution time) but so has the MSM which is a problem as these conflicts can quickly spin out of control by the people who created them - like Arab Spring, Syria.......

If you can make them laugh, you win! I watched both the Dr. Malone and McCullough interviews and there's a reason those interviews set records for Rogan. They were hands down, the best interviews anyone with that kind of audience did on the subject. I'm glad Rogan is getting the last laugh!

For a firearms enthusiast, this brings a tear to my eye. Our community has been dealing with these lies and falsehoods and emotional manipulations forever. In a strange way, I’m grateful, since I noticed the distinct telltale signs of lying propaganda very early in the pandemic… very early, and realized that the whole thing was a scam from the beginning.

The wording of phrases, the emotional manipulation, the imagery, the technical jargon that shields them from liability for lying, refusing to cover stories counter to the narrative, and my favorite, quoting data from other sources in order to get the lie out into the world, without taking responsibility… that one’s a classic hallmark of propaganda. “Sources say.” Or, “another news agency reports” then that “news” agency is some no name scumbag that works for a joke like Vox, or Rolling Stone, and just makes stuff up (anyone remember the “ivermectin is flooding hospitals with ODs”).

Side bar, here’s my origin story. In 2005 the “assault weapons ban” was ending, and around the same time period I was living in the south, and we had just experienced hurricane Katrina. My friend talked me into buying the civilian version of the AK47, since New Orleans had descended into dystopian Hell.

Around this time period, the “media” especially the propagandists at CNN were screaming about machine guns, and showing actual videos of fully automatic weapons. And saying that’s what the assault weapons ban sunset would bring… In 2005 I wasn’t a firearms enthusiast, and I truly thought owning an “AK47” was a little ridiculous, but again, the damned hurricane and tales of roving bands of rape bandits was in my mind, so hell yeah I’m going to come heavy… let me get an AK.

So I go to my gun store and tell them I would like an AK. Then the magic happened. I asked the store owner how to operate the “fully automatic” function. The entire store laughed at me. Laughed in my face, no exaggeration, it was like in the movies when the music stops and everyone turns to look.

The gentleman behind the counter pointed to TWO AK47’s on the wall, hanging side by side. He asked me to tell him the difference between the two. I couldn’t. He pointed out that one had a different stock, and also had a lug to attach a bayonet if I wanted. And that was the difference. The only difference. The one with the different stock (it’s called a thumb hole stock) and no bayonet lug had ALWAYS been legal, while the one with the more traditional stock you see in movies, and with the bayonet lug had just become legal. Other than that, they were identical. There was no “full auto”, there really was ZERO difference.

“But CNN said they were full auto.”

He laughed again.

“Dude, they showed videos of someone shooting a full auto AK47.”

“Yeah… that’s how the media lies.”

Essentially, a civilian “assault weapon” is a Ferrari kit car. It looks like a Ferrari, it performs the same function at its base level (drive, make wheels turn round) like a Ferrari. But it’s NOT a Ferrari, not in any way. The media CALLS them Ferraris because they want them banned, and they take actual Ferraris, and make videos of them driving at 220 MPH to show how dangerous they are, but they’ve lied. It’s a scam. A kit car is not a Ferrari, and banning kit cars isn’t going to make there be less automobile accidents, no matter how scary the roads appear because “Ferraris are everywhere”.

I’ve noticed media propaganda and their techniques ever since.

That Rogan interview with Dr Robert Malone was a tour de force of ACTUAL journalism at a time when there was nothing but regime propaganda to be found from practically every other source. I don’t regularly listen to Rogan, but I downloaded the app and listened to that episode twice.

Great article, Chris, though you did leave out the part where a couple short months after failing to discredit Rogan over Ivermectin, they waged an obviously coordinated and nakedly transparent attempt to paint him as a racist. CNN is a brand forever tarnished and for good reason.

Expand full comment

And the fact that Rogan basically caved to that coordinated attack, and we've yet to see signs of robust independence and confidence from him since, especially on the issue that provoked the attack, the Vax Harms. And those Harms are quite real, probably have killed 300,000-500,000 in the U.S. alone, could prove to be very ongoing, and incidentally reveal nothing less than the near-total corruption of the medical establishment, media establishment, university system, etc. See Steve Kirsch, Eugyppius, Midwestern Doctor, etc., on substack, and Darkhorse Podcast on Rumble.

There was a reply on Twitter to someone complaining about how they should restore some of the canceled accounts, and the reply went something like this:

It would make more sense if you think of Twitter the way you would a government-funded platform run like the DMV - or something like that.

If you open the lid to MSM bureaucracy and business as a whole, you'll find (among other things) the spouses of a lot of government officials running things, in addition to federal funding. A lot of this is documented in great detail all over the web. Another thing to keep in mind too is that while CNN is panned as trash domestically, I hear it's taken as gospel in Europe and other markets. Horrifying if (likely) true.

And by no means is this limited to CNN, or even television.

In Africa and in Nigeria where I live, American MSM and the Western media in general are taken as oracles by the elite. Arguing against any information on these MSM is like hitting your head against a wall.

Here in Brazil is the same. We call these elites “folcloric burguese”. They rant on capitalism and do virtue signaling with there iphone 13 pro, inside their oceanfront condo.

How do you explain this? As we are told you all hate white westerners for colonialism and slavery... Have read that Russia is really making inroads as they are not viewed as a new colonizer - unlike with the Chinese...

I bet Nigeria also has a problem with CIA-Soros-Gates-Zuckerberg funded, oops, I mean Western NGOs who also pay the local media off to run particular narratives-stories - like in Europe where the press is basically on the US-NATO-EU + Soros et al NGO payroll....

Intel Slava Z or ASB Military News on Telegram have mentioned the inroads Russia (as in the Wagner battalion - their Blackwater) has made in I think Mali and Central African Republic - basically kicking the French and their influence out... I find the Russian English language press-media far more forthright than any other media - I am sure they have their share of propaganda BUT not as bad as CNN et al...
