I actually hope with all my heart they vote him in. Too many people have been flirting with this idea for too long. Time to let them have their wish. San Francisco will look like a paradise when this is over. I hope all the communist/socialist/Marxist people put their money where their mouth is and move to New York. I feel bad for people who don't want this, I really do. It's time to let them destroy it so they leave and everyone else can get it back and really fix it. This is why I have so many problems with the Hart-Cellar Act. It needs to be repealed yesterday. 3rd world countries are collectivist. The US is individualist. We keep bringing in people who only understand and vote for collectivism. It has to stop.
I despise NYC. So naturally I want this dude elected so all of the socialites can get that up close and personal torch and pitchfork feeling at their high rises
Your San Francisco analogy is wrong. California's economy was built first by California's climate & scenery. The natural beauty and weather will keep people from leaving, despite storms of bad policy. The backlash against the idiot prosecutors, school boards and mayors is evidence there are still some sane people who could yet arrest the fall.
New York City doesn't have that advantage.
Bad policies swiftly chase the capital to friendlier--and often warmer-- havens. The looming mayoral disaster is a direct result of the people who fled the previous bad policies during COVID. If the socialist is elected, it will drive out more, leaving an even more distilled core of crazy voters, which leads to more bad policy/political decisions, etc...
Rinse, repeat, and the spin cycle goes faster and faster.
If this guy wins and gets a fraction of what he's after, then NYC will spin uncontrollably downward until everyone with money to leave will do so.
Your correct analogy is Detroit.
Some of the older folks still with us remember when it was one of the world's wealthiest cities.
Who in the fuck gives a rat's ass about the "Rotten Apple". The quicker those m%$^#rf!#*^rs self-destruct the better for America. And the same can be said for every Dem-party run shithole east of the Mississippi and on the Left Coast.
He is not just a communist, he is the tip of the jihadist spear. Look at the UK. First London then 12 other major cities voted in Muslim mayors. And now the natives find their homes intolerable and infested with criminal depravity supported by the their jihadi leaders. As much as I deplore NYC, it will be the first of many very bad Islamist centers of decay and cultural degradation.
On the same day Trump forces Israel to back down against the ayatollah. Feels like we are repeating all the mistakes the europeans made in the last hundred years, but all at once.
We need real leadership. America needs a Churchill.
He seems to be on a strong upward trajectory. None of his ideas are sustainable, but they don’t have to be, he just needs the music to keep playing long enough for him to get to the next step. He’s definitely angling for higher office (and has to be so he can avoid blame when his schemes for nyc inevitably fail)

There appears to be something Very "valuable" regarding Rank Choice Voting and "Preventative Maintenance" that is exceptionally out of proportion in terms of use vs cost.
They already regulated rental housing into oblivion. Had a 4 year squatt. Sat in landlord tenant court and was FLOORED. My 3 5 year ordeal was a walk in the park compared to some that I witnessed. If you read the Cumo approved re-write of Landlord Tenant law in NY you see right away that they want mom and pops gone. They want the entire housing market either state or wall street controlled. Those are the only entities that can sustain never ending legal battles.
Seriously, this statement is true of damn near everything in politics today and it drives me crazy. Stupidity amongst the public is the Achilles Heel of democracy. We are not a serious people.
"Mamdani, a relatively inexperienced politician barely out of his twenties when first elected, is pushing a radical overhaul of the most complex city in America—armed with ideological certainty and little else. "

At least NYC’s electorate will get what they deserve and we can all cross the city off our lists of places to visit on vacation, what a relief….
As Seinfeld would say, "Oh yeah. This should work out". Lol.
I can think of nothing better than to have him win and implement every one of his policies. Can you say "Schadenfreude?"
I live just north of the city but the schadenfreude and masochism in me sooooo wants him elected.

The economy of CA was originally built on ranching, farming, natural resources, ports, and then immigration.

You forgot Denver. It’s a liberal shithole between the Mississippi and the West Coast.
I know. Got a soft spot for the City; I grew up there in the '50s and early '60s. I keep hoping that Colorado may be redeemable.

Perhaps a Momdani Democratic ticket will result in New Yorkers coming to their senses and electing Curtis Sliwa as mayor.
