I read two lines from Dave Collum’s 2022 “Year in Review” yesterday and immediately knew I was overdue to chat with him.
So I rang him up today and we had a wide ranging discussion, talking about everything from Covid to the economy — with a special emphasis (of course) on those extra special “conspiracy theories” that have turned into “conspiracy fact” over the last year or two.
I didn’t even bother posting the podcast to YouTube because they just banned me for my last podcast and…well…I’m sure Dave tripped their censorship algorithms one way or another (he calls them Nazis in the first 15 seconds of the podcast).
David B. Collum is an economic commentator, chemist, Betty R. Miller Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University. He holds a PhD, Columbia University, MS, Columbia University, MA, Columbia University and BS, Cornell University.

Listening now, but I want to mention this before I forget. That Jolly West character that Collum mentions was also one of the first doctors that Timothy McVeigh (Oklahoma City) talked to after he was arrested. West’s former student was then McVeigh’s favorite psych doctor until his execution.

Exciting to listen to this diatribe. I just finished his year in review, part 1 and lost my shit with his definition of a zombie company. One that cannot generate revenue to cover their debt and needs to rely on more debt or give handjobs behind the dumpster at Wendy's.
